A switch in formations on Saturday has given Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh something to think about.
Gills dominated with a 4-2-3-1 system at Crawley – in a change to the regular 4-4-2 diamond set-up – which was a real bonus for the manager.
Edinburgh said: “I always say you have to get your best players in a formation. I am learning about them all the time and I learned a lot about us on Saturday.
“You need to be able to have a Plan B and C. That is what we are working towards, between now and the end of the season.”
Jermaine McGlashan was back involved from the start and his pace was a key ingredient.
Edinburgh said: “McGlashan has had to be patient but I thought we needed to get some pace and width into the team. He certainly gave us that.”
Stand-out performer was Bradley Dack, who scored the opener and provided the cross for the winner.
“He looked energetic, he always looked a menace and he always looked threatening,” added the Gills boss.
