Harry Hill could be the only man to solve the goal debate at Gillingham.

Jermaine McGlashan and Antonio German are both claiming credit for the injury-time equaliser at Bradford City last Saturday.

Funnyman Harry Hill’s catchphrase, used in his popular programme TV Burp, is “there’s only one way to find out: fight!”

Hill’s comedy scuffles could be the solution at Priestfield, joked Gills boss Peter Taylor.

“It might have to be a Harry Hill fight,” said Taylor. “Let’s get them in a boxing ring and winner takes the goal.”

German had initially been given credit for the goal on Saturday but McGlashan - who was recently guilty of what could be the miss of the season - tweeted afterwards: “Definitely my goal, tapped it in on the line. How do I go about getting credited to me??”

Neither were backing down but Gills skipper Doug Loft said: “If I was Glash I would be claiming it but I will leave it to them. The main thing is we got something.”

Taylor was seeing the funny side of the debate and was just glad both were on hand to help Gills rescue a point at Valley Parade.

“The boys have been winding Antonio up but they are going to do that because they know Antonio is going to bite,” said Taylor, who also referred to the headline in Monday’s Medway Messenger.

“We have seen the ‘drop me if you can’ headlines and he has been getting plenty of stick for that as well but that’s all good stuff.

“The way the boys are talking is that McGlashan could have got the final touch, but he appreciated that Antonio had to do a bit to get that opportunity.

“It was a nice ball from Brennan Dickenson’s corner, Leon Legge had a bit to do and he headed it superbly but the way Antonio pulled away from the keeper and then side-footed it, that deserved the goal. He has got my vote.”
