Last minute goals are horrible when you lose.
You put in so much effort throughout the game, those lung-busting runs, 50-50 challenges, everything, then it is all cancelled out in one move, one moment, one shot and it finishes you.
When it’s right at the death you know that’s it. When it is that late, it is really tough.
For Walsall to get that injury-time winning goal last weekend was a bit of a kick in the teeth but we have had our fair share of late winners too.
It felt a bit like karma.
But for us to let a two-goal lead slip was a bit naive and schoolboy from us.
We had worked so hard to get the advantage but credit to Walsall, they were a good team and it was hard to get pressure on the ball.
We had that manic few minutes where I can’t really say what happened, it was strange and a bad, bad time for us. Conceding the two goals knocked us for six but we got in at half-time and regrouped.
After the break we went out with the mentality that the game was 0-0 again and we went for it. Towards the end I thought we shaded it, chances wise, but Walsall were the ones who got the late goal this time.
I’ve been back in the team for the past few weeks after a frustrating start to the season personally.
