I have been back in training this week and feel more than ready to start against Burton.
It feels good to be back here after my injury and hopefully we can get the season running again on Saturday.
After last weekend’s defeat against Shrewsbury, the boys were gutted in the changing room, there wasn’t much talking going on, everyone just wanted to get home but when they came back in for training everyone had their head screwed on again.
The result at the weekend has got the boys closer together and in the mood to go out on Saturday and just kill the game off.
Missing the last few games has been tough. While I was out injured I came and watched every home match but watching makes me angry, I hate missing games.
I pinched a capsule behind my knee and because it swelled up a lot, Reading were cautious because it was the same knee which I had a problem with before. They wanted to check things over to make sure it was right before I came back to Gillingham.
I was worried when I first got the injury. I tried to run it off but my knee kept giving way and I was thinking to myself ‘my season can’t be done from here’. I got back to Reading the next day and got a scan and they said it was nothing major so I was over the moon about that.
In the last two seasons I have had bad injuries and I was thinking, ‘it can’t happen again can it?’ but when I found out the results, I was more than happy. There was no damage, it was just swelling.
I just want to get things going now and hopefully results will go our way and we can get into the play-offs, that is the main concern now, the game against Burton.
The lads welcomed me back in the group message app we have, they were saying it’s good to have me back and the banter has started. Hopefully, we can get things moving now.
The manager said some complimentary things about me this week and when he says things like that it gives me even more confidence to work hard for him and the team. You want to concentrate more and do even better for the gaffer and the team.
I have seven goals this season but as a striker you always want more.
The season is not done yet and hopefully I can finish this season strong, along with the team.
