It’s been a nightmare season for me with injuries – the most frustrating of my career – but I am still confident it will end with promotion.
During any season you are always going to have those bad runs but I know how
much ability we have and we can turn it around.
There is belief we can get promoted and I believe we can. We have lost some big players through injury but have enough in the dressing room to replace any player.
I still have a sore ankle from my latest injury, picked up against Oldham but I’m sure it will be fine for Saturday.
It was a painful injury and at the time I thought I had broken it. I am normally good with pain and injuries but this one was ridiculous.
I tried to play on but I couldn’t run at all and my ankle was huge so I had to come off. I couldn’t walk on it for a week but it settled down and I managed to train on it.
It should have been a red card but he got a yellow. He did go for the ball but just mis-timed it and went a bit high.
I followed through onto his studs, I don’t think he meant it but it was a naughty tackle and I was disappointed with the referee’s decision.
I scored in the same game and it was probably in my top five and my best since I have been at Gillingham. I do like a long shot – I can’t turn them down! In the last 11 games I need to score a few more and set up a few to get us promoted.
I have four goals this season but have missed a few games with injuries. If I can get six or seven, I will be happy.
