A few teams wanted to have a look at me after my time in China but I came straight to Gillingham when I knew it was an option.
I am happy to be back and it’s the best place I could have come back to.
I enjoyed my time here before, I know the area and a lot of the boys. I warmed to the fans the last time and they warmed to me as well.
It is good that the club decided to give me something to work towards. I want to make a home somewhere and hopefully it could be here. The ball’s in my court.
I am coming here off playing abroad in China. They were on a break over there so for me I am still getting up to match fitness, which I will do after a couple of games, if the gaffer plays me.
I played 90 minutes last Saturday and felt good for it.
I wasn’t expecting to play the full game against Oldham but we were trying to nick a goal and the manager wanted to keep his attackers on. It did me the world of good.
The second game I will feel better and can use all my attributes for longer. With another game and another week of training I will be back on schedule I think.
I was the only English player out in China and it was quite a culture shock. Every team had foreigners and every other country but Britain was represented.
Forget the football, that’s the same level, but the culture is very, very different. I got used to it but when I came back here I was still wearing shorts because it is so hot there.
I stepped off the plane back in Britain in my shorts and it was freezing. The highest temperature I played in was 41 degrees and there were crowd of 50-60,000.
I was 24 when I went out there and it was a great experience. I’ve done that now and I still have time to make a name for myself here.
