This season should be considered a success, even if we do miss out on the play-offs.
Everyone’s all gung-ho for the play-offs but let’s not forget that four months ago we were a bit down in the dumps wondering whether we’d stay safe.
Things change in football quickly. When you look at the table, we are only six points off the play-offs but we’re in 14th place so there’s a lot of teams who have a chance. We’ll give it our all, as we always do.
We had a new squad in the summer and a lot of new players who didn’t know each other and it takes time to gel.
League 1 is so competitive that you look at the teams who are down there and they’re still good sides.
Leyton Orient should have got promoted to the Championship last year and Yeovil were in the Championship last year.
Everyone wants to be promoted and have that on their CV but if a season doesn’t go to plan, finishing high end of the table can still be a success.
To be honest, I had no promotion expectations when I signed for the club.
Talking to Peter Taylor, it was more to try and be a bit more comfortable from relegation and a solid mid-table side before looking to push into the play-offs the season after.
