It’s fair to say this season has been eventful.
We started with Peter Taylor as manager – and with a young team we were growing – but when the ‘three of them’ took over, we started to get our confidence back.
Justin Edinburgh took over in February and we’ve progressed from there. It’s been a stepping stone for a lot of the lads who haven’t played a lot of games in their career. They’re young and next season we’ll kick on and have a good go.
Bradley Dack and John Egan have both stood out for me this season. They’ve been immense and I can’t talk highly enough about both of them.
They’re good players, they’ve got big futures and next season they’ll kick on even more.
After the first half of the season, I think we’ve done well. After Christmas, the boys needed a bit of a confidence boost and the three of them definitely did that.
They got us playing again and the gaffer’s given everyone even more confidence since he came in. We all understand what he wants now, how he wants to play and next season we’ll do better.
Although I spent five years with Port Vale, it was easy enough to switch allegiances when I signed here last summer.
I used to come and watch Gills as a boy, I supported them and I’ve been here a lot. It’s been easy in that aspect but it has been weird playing for a different team.
I was captain at Vale for years and was comfortable there but I wanted a fresh start and a new challenge and this is it. I’ve found my feet this year and feel like I can kick on next year.
The Rainham End was terraced when I used to come here and watch games and it’s special to now play in front of those Gills fans.
We’ve got great support, they always get behind the boys and hopefully next year we can do well for them.
