It will be weird going back to Port Vale, my old club and being on the other side but we want to go and get the win. It is all Gills for me now.
I don’t know what kind of a reception I will get, you never do when you go back to an old club. When you get offered a deal and go somewhere else, it will be interesting and I am sure there will be a few boos. I know what some fans can be like but I am not too bothered.
I am a bit disappointed I won’t be facing my best mate this weekend.
It would have been nice to score past Chris Neal but he’s injured and they’ve got someone in on loan from Newcastle to replace him.
I used to have a laugh in training with Chris when I was there. He used his nose all the time to make saves – we called him the BFG – Big Fat Goalie!
I am from Dulwich and that was part of the reason for coming back down South. I had been up with Port Vale for four years and I thought it was time for a change. When this came up, it was close to home and a no-brainer.
I had been speaking to Lofty all season and when my contract was up, we had a chat and I said I wanted to move back home. I think Lofty had mentioned it to one of the assistants.
The gaffer here called me and that was it.
I scored against the Gills last season at Port Vale. It was 2-1 Vale, with a last-minute winner and it was pretty good! Those are the best wins when you do it last minute.
Vale and Gills had some good tussles when I was there, including the 2013 season when Gillingham went up as champions. We were first and second all season but we blew up near the end and Gills carried on.
I just hope I don’t end up in the wrong dressing room on Saturday.
