I was back in the team last Saturday after missing the Doncaster game with an injury and it was good to have that rest and recuperation.
I had a niggly injury in my quad from pre-season. It had gone away for a couple of games and then came back. In training after the Peterborough game I took a shot and felt something go and I was worried about it. I was struggling then.
I knew Deji was also injured but it was one of those injuries where if I played through it there was a lot more risk of pulling it and being out six to eight games. You have to listen to your body and keep it in good shape for the season.
Lofty did a great job filling in at centre-back. I had a chat with him before the Doncaster match but he reads the game well. It can be torture when you are in the stands and you can’t help the boys, you are watching on, but when you win you feel relieved.
Coming back into the side last weekend and beating Blackpool felt good.
We blitzed them in the first 20 minutes but apart from that we didn’t hit the heights that we have done previously but we showed we can win when not playing at our best.
Dacky got our winner and he was obviously delighted to score it. He is a good team player and a good team guy. To be fair to Blackpool, they kept him quiet for a good bit of the game, but Dacky only needs one chance and when that ball fell in the box you don’t want it to fall to anyone else at the moment. There was no way he was going to miss it.
Prior to that we conceded our first goal at home this season. You never want to concede but that is football. If you could keep a clean sheet every game then it would be easy but in football you are going to concede goals.
Nels made another good save at 1-1. He is a good keeper, a good leader and is very vocal. His bread and butter is to make those saves and thankfully at the moment he is making them. There have been a few in every game, where he has made good one-on-one saves.
