Ady Pennock is targeting another three wins for safety.
The Gillingham head coach has 10 games left and is keen to get past the 50-point mark as quickly as possible.
His men are up against promotion-chasing Scunthorpe in League 1 on Saturday.
Pennock said: “We would definitely be safe on 52 points. We would be unlucky to be relegated on 52 points.
“I said four wins, from (last) Saturday. If we can get to 50 as quick as we can and then 52, we would be OK, that’s what I think.
“It’s going to be tough and we have to battle in every game from now until the end of the season. It’s all about the results. We don’t like to lose but if we had to win-lose-win-lose until the end of the season, then I would take that because that’s five wins."
With ticket offers in place this weekend, Gillingham could be backed by a bigger crowd than usual and Pennock is keen for their support.
He said: “The supporters have been brilliant. In the last home game, against Southend, they stayed here right to the end.
“We need them, there are 10 finals to go and even at Bury on Saturday, they got right behind the players. It was a great feeling to see them celebrating at the end.
“It’s great that the football club can do a (kids for a quid) deal for the children, we need the supporters.
“We are all in it together. We win and lose and draw together, not just the players, but everyone connected to the club, along with the supporters, who are huge.”
