Gillingham’s Josh Wright insists the team are well up for the promotion battle.
The Gills dropped to fourth in League 1 on Saturday after a goalless home draw with Swindon Town.
But with key players Bradley Dack and John Egan staying put despite big-money offers in the January transfer window, midfielder Wright feels they have the tools to succeed this season.
He said: “The chairman has given us every chance now and we are going to do everything we can to repay his faith.
“We are up for the fight. We have been up there all season and we are not going to let this one slip.”
Wright tasted promotion with the Gills as part of the play-off winning team in 2009 and he’s hungry for more.
“That was a highlight of my career when that happened, albeit I was only here a short time,” he said.
“To see how happy the fans were that day, the whole club, it’s something I keep thinking about. It is in my mind all day, every day at the moment.
“I want to replicate it and I would love to do it again this season with this bunch."
