Crewe midfielder Scott Robertson who is on loan from Celtic is suspended for match against former club Gillingham

Gillingham’s former loan midfielder Scott Robertson will miss out on meeting with his old team this Saturday after being hit with a ban for violent conduct.

Robertson spent the first half of last season at Priestfield on loan from Scottish Premiership side Celtic but struggled for regular game-time and finished the season at Doncaster. He's now playing for Gills' weekend opponents Crewe.

He joined Crewe on loan this season and has been a regular starter for them, making 12 appearances so far. Gills play Crewe this Saturday but Robertson will sit it out after being handed a three-match ban after stamping on an opponent.

That incident happened in Crewe’s 2-0 loss against Bolton last Friday.

Match officials missed the incident at the time, towards the end of the game, but the player was charged on video evidence and he’s accepted a standard penalty.

Gillingham could come up against their former striker Mikael Mandron, however. He’s scored three goals this season in the league for the bottom-placed side.
