Chatham boss Kevin Watson is doubtful this weekend’s game against Witham Town will beat the wet weather – but hasn’t ruled out pulling off a shock if it does.
Chats are due to travel to the Ryman League, Division 1 North title-chasers on Saturday.
Witham haven’t lost a game at home in the league so far and if they win their matches in hand, will go top.
It’s a daunting task for 18th-placed Chatham but Watson hasn’t dismissed the chance of his side ruining Witham’s proud home record.
He said: “I can’t see it going ahead but if it does, then hopefully we can cause an upset.
“Witham will certainly be expecting to win and they have aspirations to do well this season but we’ve tended to do well against the better teams.
"Over the last few seasons, our form against teams up there has been good. We don’t fear going there and it just depends on what team turns up on the day.”
Chatham’s away form is healthy, having won five of their 12 on the road and Watson has no fresh injury concerns.
