Chatham’s winless run in Ryman League, Division 1 South goes on after they were beaten by leaders Folkestone on Tuesday.
The home side, who are three points clear at the top with games in hand, took the lead on 12 minutes through Ronnie Dolan. Jon Pilbeam scored to put Invicta 2-0 up just before the half-hour.
Chatham got back in the game on 67 minutes when substitute Austin Edwards halved the deficit. However, the visitors couldn’t drag themselves level and they’re just three places above the relegation zone.
Chats boss Kevin Watson, whose side have now gone seven league games without a win, said: “We deserved to get a point. We pulled one back but just couldn’t get the second.
“It was a strange game – quite open – and both sides had chances.
“Seeing they went 2-0 up, you’d think they were right on top but it didn’t feel like that. They hit us on the break both times.
“We should do well against teams in this league.
“Folkestone are up there at the moment, they’re a good team and they’ll probably go on to win the league but they’re not unbeatable. I wouldn’t say it was a convincing win.”
Chats host Peacehaven in the only league fixture scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday), with most clubs in FA Trophy action.
