Scott Wagstaff says Gillingham's work rate is deserving of a win

Scott Wagstaff is convinced Gillingham fans can see how hard the players are trying.

Wagstaff understands frustration in the stands after five games without a win at the start of the League 1 season.

But he feels the commitment is clear and rates Gills as one of the fittest teams in the
division.

The midfielder said: “We’re trying our best and I think the fans can see we’re working our socks off, for ourselves, them and the gaffer.

“The boys have looked fit since day one. I think we’ve all looked fit and strong.

“I don’t think the fans would doubt how fit we look. They must feel that we are committed and going for it and not holding back.

“It’s just frustrating that we haven’t got that win on the board because some of the performances have merited three points.

“I feel as a team we’re probably one of the fittest in the league but that doesn’t matter unless we get wins.

“It’s a good group to work with and we just need that win. It is around the corner and it’s going to be a good one when we get it.

“Sometimes people hear things in the crowd and it does get to you.

“It’s only natural to react to it but we all need to stick together and make sure that the fans don’t affect us if they do want to have their comments towards us.

“We’ve got to take it because we’re one club and all trying to stick together and go in the right direction. We just need the fans to stick with us and we will definitely turn it
around.”
