Bridle’s treble came days after the Hawks announced that the young striker had extended his loan stay with them until the end of the season.

Prior to the weekend, Bridle had hit seven goals in six appearances for the club, including one in their recent win over Dover Athletic.

He’s now in double figures with those 10 goals coming during a seven-game hot streak.

Bridle has had several brief loan spells elsewhere this season, playing for Isthmian South East sides Herne Bay and Sheppey United.

He joined Whitehawk in the middle of December.

Bridle was around the first-team at Gillingham in pre-season and netted twice in a 4-0 win over Dartford. He was handed an extended scholarship deal in the summer.

Gillingham’s first team have struggled for goals this season with winger Jayden Clarke (seven) and midfielder Robbie McKenzie (five) the leading scorers. Elliott Nevitt’s the top scoring striker, with two.

Another young Gillingham forward, Jimmy Heasman, was on target for Sheppey United at the weekend.

The striker powered home a header in stoppage time, the last goal of the game as The Ites were beaten 3-2 by Margate in their Isthmian South East clash.
