Myles Weston has backed the Gills to bounce back at Peterborough on Tuesday night.
Weston put Gillingham 2-1 up at Priestfield on Saturday but ended up on the losing team, as Rotherham fought back to win 4-3.
Weston said: “We have to go again against Peterborough and if we play like that again, we will get a win.
“They (Rotherham) didn’t beat us off the park, they just had a couple of players who were decent on the day.
“It was disappointing to lose. It goes like that sometimes and if we had concentrated for the whole game, we would have got the win. We have to look forward to Tuesday now.”
Weston’s goal put the Gills 2-1 up, to turn the match around, after conceding in the opening minute.
“We shouldn’t be looking at where they are in the table. We know if we perform, we can get the three points."
He said: “It was hard for everyone (to concede early) and you think, ‘we’ve got a long game ahead of us’.
“It was still early days, so we had time to score loads of goals against them. We just had to restart the game and you just have to keep on going and keep focused.
“We got back in the game first half, kept going and worked hard. Even though we conceded in the first minute our reaction was good.”
The game against Peterborough may look like a tough one for the Gills but Weston isn’t interested in form or positions in the table.
He said: “We shouldn’t be looking at where they are in the table. We know if we perform, we can get the three points.
“The quicker we get the wins that we need the quicker we are safe and can start planning for next season.”
