Justin Edinburgh hailed Bradley Dack's wonder goal in Gillingham's 2-1 friendly win at Bromley.
Dack's volley was as good as anything you'll see in League 1 this season.
And boss Edinburgh said: "We all know what Bradley's about and he's got that kind of quality in abundance. He certainly showed it with that sublime finish.
"He's come back in really good condition, I think he's taken a lot out of last year and he's a bright young player. We're excited for the season ahead for him."
Dack's strike followed summer signing Ben Williamson's opener and gave Gillingham a 2-0 half-time lead at Hayes Lane.
National League new boys Bromley replied through Brad Goldberg late on.
Edinburgh said: "It was a very good start and a fantastic first half with some really good play and a lot of chances created.
"Obviously it was always going to be difficult to maintain that with pre-season and making the substitutions we did but overall I was very pleased."
