GARY ROWETT
After rave reviews at Burton, Rowett took charge of Birmingham in October 2014 and guided them from 21st to 10th in the Championship. Unexpectedly sacked last month with the team seventh in the table.
ANDY HESSENTHALER
Gills legend Hessenthaler has had three spells in charge of the club already, the first starting in 2000 when he was still playing. Appointed Leyton Orient manager in April 2016 but was sacked in September.
STEVE COTTERILL
Highly-rated in the lower divisions after success most recently with Bristol City, who he guided from League 1 to the Championship. Sacked in January 2016, has also managed the likes of Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Stoke.
DENNIS WISE
Been out of management for a number of years after previously being in charge of Leeds. Led Millwall to the FA Cup final as player-manager in 2004 and has also been Swindon boss.
KENNY JACKETT
Former Millwall and Gills boss who has previously been linked to the Priestfield job due to his proven track record in the lower divisions. Jackett most recently resigned as Rotherham boss in November after just 39 days in charge.
CHRIS KINNEAR
Dover boss who has guided the part-timers from Crabble to the verge of the Football League. Brings experience and can get the best out of players.
JAY SAUNDERS
Talented Maidstone manager who has masterminded their rise through the non-league pyramid to the National League.
STEVE LOVELL
Highly regarded by Gills fans after forming part of the gang of four management team who took over when Peter Taylor left the club two seasons ago. Now assistant boss at Bromley.
MICKY ADAMS
Much-travelled boss who started his playing career at Gillingham. Most recently in charge at Sligo, lists Tranmere, Sheffield United, Coventry and Leicester among his former clubs.
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK
Sacked as QPR boss in November, Hasselbaink made his name as a manager by winning promotion with Burton from League 2. When he left for QPR, they were top of League 1.
NEAL ARDLEY
The highly-rated AFC Wimbledon coach won promotion from League 2 last season. Survival is the name of the game after promotion but Ardley has impressed with the Dons just seven points from the play-offs - three ahead of the Gills. In charge at Wimbledon since 2012.
ADY PENNOCK
Gills legend Pennock would be a welcome appointment with the fans. The popular defender played more than 150 games for the club between 1996 and 2003. Currently in a consultant role at non-league Welling, he was sacked by Forest Green at the end of last season despite being top of the National League for most of the campaign.
