Ady Pennock insists Josh Wright remains part of his plans at Gillingham this season.
Midfielder Wright has been subject to speculation that he could be leaving Priestfield and was on the bench against Ipswich at the weekend.
Gills head coach Pennock said: “You can’t help rumours but Josh was fantastic for me (last season). He scored 11 goals and was top drawer.
“Do I want him to go? No I don’t. I want him to be part of this squad and part of what we want to do here. If he does leave then we will address that when and if it happens.”
The Gills have still had no offers for the 27-year-old, according to Pennock, who has praised the player’s attitude amid the gossip.
“He has been working his socks off in training,” said Pennock. “We have had lots of chats. He is focused and if things happen, they happen.

“He has been good as gold and very professional. You can’t help rumours. If they are true then it is a good position for him to be in.
“He has a year left here and if there are other clubs after him he should grab it with both hands and relish it. He looked nice and bright when he come on (against Ipswich) and there is competition. It’s what we want.”
