Josh Wright’s delight at his match-winning Gills hat-trick on Saturday was tempered by a booking for celebrating his third goal with the fans.
It means a two-match ban for 10 cautions and he will miss the home match with Bolton on Tuesday and Saturday's trip to Rochdale.
Referee Robert Lewis missed most things in the opening hour of the game but refused to turn a blind eye to the emotions of a dramatic turnaround at Priestfield.
“I’ve held myself,” said Wright, who had gone nine games without a yellow card. “The gaffer warned me a few weeks ago that if you’re going to get a booking, make sure it’s a booking worth getting.
“I’ve been on this tightrope for quite a long time. I’ll never pull out of a tackle but I’ve played with a slightly older head so to get it like that was gutting.
“Someone’s just scored a hat-trick to win a game, how can you not celebrate it?
“We know the rules. If I take my shirt off it’s a booking, I didn’t. If I jump over the boards into the crowd it’s a booking, I didn’t. But I jumped up at the corner flag, the boys have run into me but I haven’t gone over the boards, I slid down and held myself.
“I’m gutted because I love playing football games and I’m really feeling good at the moment with the form I am in.
“To miss these next two crucial games has put a bit of a downer on it for me but I can’t let it get me too down.”
