Child artists have an extra chance to make an impression this year at the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards and see their work showcased at a prestigious Kent art gallery.
Traditionally held in the summer, the annual art and writing contest for primary school children is moving to the autumn term. The deadline for entries this academic year is Friday, November 3 effectively giving children a second chance to create a winning masterpiece as the previous awards event was held in June.
The competition, organised by the KM Group’s charity department, requires youngsters to devise a genuine or fantasy packed lunch. To enter, they must draw or paint a picture of the meal and write about what makes it special. Every entry will be displayed in recipe card format on the awards website.
The event is run in partnership between the KM Charity Team and Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Golding Homes, Kent Libraries, and Canterbury City Council.
Event organiser Sophie Wallace of the KM Charity Team said: “Children can let their imaginations go wild for the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards. It’s a great combination of art and creative writing with a wonderful prize to be won. Make sure any wannabe artists that you know don’t miss out on the fun.”
Competition categories include Superhero, Pirate Captain, Princess, Famous Artist, Knight, Favourite Book Character, Celebrity, Healthy, Cheesy, Historical, and Fairytale.
Finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony at cultural hub The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, Canterbury where their work will go on display.
