A leading Kent leisure attraction is asking the public to nominate history educators at the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards
Captain Patrick Tootal OBE, A director from the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, has joined the judging panel for the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards to find the educators who are bringing the past to life in the classroom.
Captain Tootal said: "It is very important that we encourage children to learn about history, our heritage and our great past. I think it is vital we don’t let history fall into the background as Kent is full of wonderful history and these teachers are fundamental to the young generation accessing it."
Fellow Trust member Malcolm Triggs said: "We are immensely proud to support this award and children of all ages being able to learn all about history, please join us by nominating your favourite history teacher."
The memorial trust aims to use involvement in the annual school awards to promote the educational facilities now open for schools and families to visit at its Folkestone site.
Members of the public, pupils and school staff to nominate those who have gone over and above to ensure that lives in Kent and Medway are richer through education. More than 50 staff and schools will be celebrated at the event with diverse categories ensuring that anyone making a difference at a school can be nominated. As well as teaching staff, support staff and school volunteers can be nominated.
Members of the public and school staff can submit nominations at www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk before March 1.
The awards are organised by the KM Charity Team in partnership with the KM Group. Organisations joining the judging panel include Kent County Council, Christ Church University, CXK, Kent Sport, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Social Enterprise Kent, Project Salus, Kreston Reeves, LoopCR, Trust Careers at Medway Youth Trust, Hornby, Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, Kent Libraries, the Mercure Great Danes Maidstone, Beanstalk.
