Help put a smile back on the face of a grieving child by taking part in the KM Assault Course.

Youth bereavement charity Holding On Letting Go is calling for people to take on the fundraising challenge on its behalf.

To mark its 20th anniversary, the Rochester-based charity is seeking a “terrific 20” individuals to enter the KM Charity Team’s various fundraising challenges this year.

The assault course takes place at Betteshanger Park near Deal on May 5.

Holding On Letting Go fundraising officer Caroline Gaskin said: “We’d love you to put a team together for Holding On Letting Go, and tackle the KM Assault Course. It’s a fantastic team event and a brilliant fundraiser.”

“Holding On Letting Go provides bereavement support for children and young people all over Kent and Medway.

“We do this by inviting them on special bereavement support weekends where they go through a range of art and craft activities, music therapy, anger work, memory work – all with the aim of helping them to hold on to their memories of their precious loved one but let go of the pain, grief and sadness of that person dying.

“It’s a special year for the charity because it’s our 20th anniversary, so we thought it would be a really nice idea to try and find 20 people who’ll take part in these challenge events for us.”

Registration costs £85 per team, but a £10 discount is available when using the booking code KMNews19.

Event coordinator Dominic Comins said: “Holding On Letting Go is such a wonderful charity doing really important work helping young people recover from tragic and traumatic experiences.

“So it would be lovely to see people sign up for the assault course on its behalf.”

The course comprises 19 obstacles, including tunnels, balance beams, the rope walk, water jumps and the tyre wall. The age limit for taking part is 14.

Teams can do the challenge for any charity they choose, and the money they raise will be split 70/30 between their good causes and the KM Charity Team’s road safety services for children. It is suggested that teams aim to raise a minimum of £400.

The event is supported by Betteshanger Park, Specsavers, personal fitness specialists MY/PT and Eurostar.
