The Kent Messenger Group is aiming to break the record for the biggest charity quiz night ever held in the county and is inviting readers to enter teams.
Big Quiz 2009 will take place at Maidstone Leisure Centre, Mote Park, Maidstone on Friday, June 12 at 7pm. Tables can be booked here.
The quiz will raise funds for: Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Mayor of Maidstone’s Charity Appeal, children’s road safety charity Kent and Medway Walking Bus Group and Heart of Kent Hospice.
The cost for a table of eight people is £60, including a ploughman’s meal and a glass of wine for each person provided by Sainsbury, Maidstone.
To beat last year’s records more than 61 teams of eight must take part and more than £5,400 be raised.
Simon Dolby, chairman of the KM Walking Bus Project, who will be question master, said: “Questions will be carefully selected to ensure everyone enjoys themselves. ”
A number of sponsors have already agreed to support the KM Big Quiz with Maidstone Leisure Centre providing the venue at a discount and P&O Ferries donating vouchers for the winning team to take a car and up to nine passengers to France. Fremlin Walk, Sainsbury’s and Day Smith Hunter chartered accountants have also signed up as main sponsors.
Mr Dolby said: “We are keen to hear from other companies interested in sponsoring this event, either by providing prizes for the winners on the night, or by sponsoring quiz rounds.”
To have a quiz round named after your organisation costs £100. To be a main sponsor costs £500. For information on the promotional benefits call Mr Dolby on 07989 164 752.
