Good causes are set to benefit from a pot of £6,000 raised at the Medway Big Quiz on Friday, February 15.
The annual event, staged at the St George Hotel in Chatham, attracted 27 teams and saw perennial winners Supernova pip Medway Mail and Female to top spot by just a single point after a thrilling contest.
Earwigo were the third placed team, followed by Quiz Akabusi, Wise Quacks and the No Brainers.
All of these teams have qualified for the county final at the end of the year.
A small army of volunteers and supportive businesses helped to ensure the mammoth wine and wisdom evening was a success.
Kent brewer Shepherd Neame donated the beverages for the charity bar, with the drinks served by staff from Barclays. To boost the charity pot, the bank also match-funded every purchase made.
The money raised will be shared between the Medway Messenger’s charity of the year, Chatham-based Net Community Hub, and the KM Charity Team’s literacy and road-safety and walk-to-school initiatives.
Rochester primary school The Gordon's Children's Academy won £750 for its registered charity after being chosen in a lottery draw.
And Deanna Barrett won a pair of Eurostar tickets after correctly answering that the name of Peppa Pig's baby brother is George.
Extra support was provided by Office Angels and McDonald’s, Hornby donated prizes for the raffle, and Encade.com took photographs of all the contestants.
Event organiser Dominic Comins said: “It was a fabulous evening and a great atmosphere.
“The number of teams taking part in the event was very impressive, and I particularly want to thank the Barclays staff and Shepherd Neame for their continued support in helping to ensure the event was such a success.”
