Radio presenter Bob Mower is going a long way to cure his fear of heights - seven storeys down the side of a building!

Bob, Breakfast Show presenter for kmfm, is taking part in our charity abseil from the top of the Fisher Tower at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Bob has been afraid of heights for as long as he can remember, but says he’s hoping the descent on Saturday, June 14, will be the perfect remedy, albeit an extreme one.

He said: “I know some people go shaky when faced with heights and I’m not to that extent but it is my quirky little thing.

“When looking at a computer screen and something goes over the edge, my stomach drops.

“I decided it might be a way of curing myself.”

The abseil challenge is raising money for the Canterbury branch of the RSPCA, our charity of the year, and the KM Walking Bus.

Bob is hoping to go some way to match his wife Joy’s recent achievement for world health charity Merlin - she ran this year’s London Mrathon.

He said: “I thought I should get off my backside and do something. I don’t want to parachute but I think I could abseil.”

But the father-of-three added: “Looking over the parapet for the first time, that’s what I’m dreading. Looking into the abyss.”
