Are you braver than a 13 year-old? Then make sure you book your place now for the KM’s charity abseil challenge while there’s still time.
Teenager Eleanor Duffy will be amongst a team of 11 people from Future Youth Project to beat the drop on Sunday, June 15.
Vinca Petersen, of Future Youth Project, said: “Eleanor has shown great enthusiasm towards helping us with projects in Thanet and is the youngest member of our team doing the abseil. She is at Clarendon House Grammar School and has been chosen to train to be a peer mentor there.”
The abseil team is raising money for a Future Youth Project bus, which will go to remote villages in North Eastern Romania and help those living in poverty.
Ms Petersen added: “Throughout the year we involve people in Thanet in creative projects - through which they gain self esteem and a sense of community - and it’s some of these people that board the bus to go on a long journey to Ukraine or Romania to help others.”
Organiser Dominic Comins, of the KM’s charity department, urged other charity supporters and thrill seekers to sign up for the abseil without delay. “Time is running out so register now to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun and give the charity of your choice a much-needed boost,” he said.
The abseiler who raises the most money at the event will win the ultimate West End experience. The prize includes tickets to the award-winning Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, plus overnight stay and evening meal at the 4-star Cavendish Hotel.
Supported by Holiday Extras and AL Scaffolding, the KM abseil challenge is being held at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone on Sunday, June 15.
