Boys in blue all set for charity football fun

POLICE officers in Medway will be taking part in a special charity soccer match on Sunday (May 6) against Medway Legal FC, a team made up of local solicitors and members of the Crown Prosecution Service.

The game, which kicks off at the Star Meadows Sports and Social Club at 1pm, will be for the Medway Law Society Cup.

All proceeds from the event will be split between the Kent Air Ambulance and the Medway Asthma Centre.

The Kent Police team are keen to rebuild their credibility following last year's 6-1 defeat by Medway Legal.

The police team has been coordinated by police community support officer Alan Beech, who will be lacing up his football boots for the last time before he retires from the game.

He said: "We are really looking forward to this match and I am certain that this year we have what it takes to win.

"The event will have a true carnival atmosphere with loads to do for the whole family. There will be a penalty shoot out stand, football memorabilia auction and a bouncy castle."
