Kent brewer Shepherd Neame will be rolling out its barrels yet again for the KM Charity Team’s Big Quiz this autumn.
Once again, the Faversham brewery will be providing the drinks for free for the event’s charity Spitfire bar, with all the money raised from purchases going to charity.
And with Barclays bank matching every penny spent at the bar, every time someone buys a drink they will be making a double charitable donation.
The quiz takes place at Maidstone Leisure Centre in Mote Park on Friday November 9, and will generate much-needed cash for the Heart of Kent Hospice, services supporting child literacy and road safety, and one charity chosen via a prize draw.
Shepherd Neame has been supporting the Big Quiz for 14 years, helping to raise more than £30,000 for charity each year.
Moray Neame, communications executive at the brewery, said: “We have been sponsoring the KM Big Quiz for more than a decade, and are very proud to support such a popular charity fundraising event in our heartland.”
KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Words cannot describe how grateful we are to Shepherd Neame for the huge contribution they have made to the success of the Big Quiz over the past 14 years.
“The money generated by the Spitfire bar over the years has made a significant difference to good causes and the individuals and communities benefitting from their valuable work.
“The bar also helps ensure that the Big Quiz is such a fun event, and we urge people to sign up for the Maidstone quiz now. You’re guaranteed to have a great night out, while helping to raise cash for the Heart of Kent Hospice – one of the county’s most cherished good causes.”
Each member of the winning team will get DFDS Seaways vouchers worth more than £150, and the top four teams will go through to the county final in January.
There will also be a raffle featuring Hornby collectables, and any organisation entering a minimum of three teams will be presented with a prize for their best-performing group.
And there will be special prizes for the top teams from the NHS and care sector and from local government and schools.
Plus, one person selected at random will have the chance to win spa tickets in the timed 'Win in 10' round.
Contestants will also receive substantial nibbles and a bottle of wine on the table.
The quiz is organised by the KM Charity Team and supported by Kent accountancy practice Wilkins Kennedy.
It is for teams of up to eight people, with doors opening at 6.20pm for a 7pm start. The fun is estimated to finish at 10.30pm.
The entry price is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS18.
