Budding young artists are running out of time to make an impression at the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards.
Youngsters have until Friday, May 8 to submit their entries for the chance to see their artwork on display at the Turner Contemporary Gallery.
To enter, primary school children are required to draw or paint the ultimate lunchbox meal for their chosen category - ranging from Princess to Pirate Captain – and then write about their imaginary culinary masterpiece.
Every entry will be showcased on the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards website as a recipe card featuring the artwork, creative writing and optionally a photo of the child artist holding their design.
Category winners will be invited to an awards ceremony at the Turner Contemporary Gallery, Margate where they will see their packed lunch picture on display.
“We are thrilled to support the Perfect Packed Lunch project,” said Lisa Settle, director of Rochester based Telcare, a key partner of the event. “We assist many schools in Kent with the management of their telecoms so it’s great to be able to help on another level.”
She added: “It will be exciting to give a helping hand to the younger students, I’m really looking forward to the event.”
The awards are also backed by Mini Babybel, Art Projects for Schools, Three R's Teacher Recruitment and Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes).
The full list of competition categories includes: Superhero, Pirate Captain, Princess, Famous Artist, Knight, Favourite Book Character, Celebrity, Healthy, Cheesy, Historical, and Fairytale.
