One of the Island’s good causes is £300 better off thanks to the help of a cartoon character.
In last week's Times Guardian we reported about the Friends of Lovell Road, a group of mums who have tasked themselves with raising enough money to refurbish the Lovell Road play area in Minster.
Their target is £100,000, and they are £300 closer thanks to Captain Crunch, a character in national newspaper The Sun who deemed the cause worthy enough for a financial award.
With the help of her nan, 12-year-old Hannah Brown, daughter of the group’s secretary wrote to Captain Crunch, who offers financial advice to those feeling the pinch due to the Credit Crunch.
Belinda Skinner, who set up the group, said: “It was a great surprise. It is a fantastic boost to our funds and we are all very proud of her.”
