A fun day run by a school caretaker whose daughter has cancer has raised thousands of pounds.
More than £2,500 was counted up by the end of Saturday’s event at Stanhope, Ashford, with more was expected to come in through sponsorship.
The event, at Linden Grove Primary School, was organised by Shaun King and four parents, Anna Campbell, Charlotte Law, Donna Crawford and April White.
Mr King’s daughter Alison, 16, has cancer and she attended the event and presented trophies at the end of the day’s 26-team football tournament.
Mr King said: “I had said I would be happy with £2,500 and it looks as if we have raised more than that. It has been a great success.”
The day was to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, which specialises in supporting children with cancer.
Alison has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and is being treated at University College Hospital in London.
