A DISABLED pensioner has been robbed of her handbag containing money she had saved for a children's hospice.

The thief snatched the bag from the walking frame of 67-year-old Bunny Kimbell as she shopped in the centre of Canterbury.

Inside was more than £200 with which Mrs Kimbell of Headcorn Drive, Canterbury, was planning to buy gifts and goods for the orphanage and hospice in Romania which she is due to visit next month.

As well as the money, the pensioner lost her passport and other important documents, including her pension book, bank cards, personal papers, photographs and keys.

She said: "I feel absolutely sick. It has caused me so much stress and worry. How can a thief go so low as to take a handbag from a disabled lady's walking frame?"

Mrs Kimbell was featured in last week's edition fo the Kentish Gazette newspaper when she spoke about her trip to the St Margaret's Children's Hospice in Bucharest which she has supported for four years.

Despite suffering from osteoporosis, she was excited about travelling to Romania to actually meet some of the children she has been helping.

Mrs Kimbell appealed last week for small items, like toiletries, sweets, combs and crayons which should take with her.

Now she needs the help more than ever. Anyone who can offer something can contact her on 01227 785263.
