WORKERS on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link have raised a total of £22,000 for charity in the last three years. Since work began in October 1998, staff of the joint contractors for Eurolink have staged fundraising events and donated some of their bonuses to local schools, clubs and organisations.
Kent Air Ambulance received £3,865, while Abbey Court School, in Strood, has received £17,000.
The majority of the infrastructure on CTRL's 46-mile first section, between the Channel Tunnel and North Kent, is now complete with work beginning on installing the high-speed railway line.
