Thank-you 10,000 times over.

That was the message from four charities which benefited from this year’s KM Big Quiz in Canterbury.

The £10,000 proceeds from the event in March were handed over at the Gazette’s new office on Estuary View Business Park, Whitstable, by deputy editor Duncan Marsh.

Receiving the cheques were the former Lady Mayoress Leslie Windsor for her chosen charities in her year of office; Ken Butler, chairman of the Canterbury branch RSPCA; Janet Berridge, vice-chairman of the Canterbury Hospital League of Friends; and Simon Dolby, for the Kent and Medway Walking Bus.

Also there to witness the handover were two of the sponsors – Stephen Parry of Parry Law Solicitors and Louise Hopkins of Shepherd Neame.

Mr Marsh said that the Big Quiz provided great entertainment for hundreds of people while raising a fantastic sum of money for deserving charities.
