High winds have caused the KM Charity Team’s abseil challenge to be postponed.
More than 70 daredevils had booked for the event which was due to take place this Sunday, March 17 at 100-foot-high sheltered housing block Thomas Place in Maidstone.
But the roof was damaged during the high winds experienced over the past week and significant repairs and parts are required to restore it to operational order.
The event was set to be a major fundraiser for 30 good causes across the county.
Simon Dolby, CEO of the KM Charity Team, said: “We are bitterly disappointed and apologise to everyone who was ready to beat the drop on Sunday.
“The abseil is such an important event for the charity sector, with dozens of causes using it as a major fundraiser to support their vital work. We are talking to the building owners about rescheduling at the earliest opportunity and are very grateful for their support.”
The abseil was organised in partnership between the KM Charity Team and Housing and Care 21 with support from Specsavers.
