In an age of austerity one community minded print firm has bucked the trend of cuts and caution by making a serious investment in the business.

Family firm D. Isom Printers which has produced commercial stationery in Kent for more than three decades has installed a £100,000 four colour printing press.

Managing director Mark Isom said: “It’s a constant evolution and we want to keep pushing forward to do better for our customers. The Roland 200 printing press allows us to provide enhanced quality, faster turnaround and greater capacity.”

The Herne Bay company was established in 1967 by Mark’s late father Dennis Isom. It operates countrywide with the bulk of custom in Kent and London and offers the highest resolution in the South East at 4000 dpi.

One of the first jobs for the new printing press was producing the brochures for the KM Walk to School Awards 2016. D. Isom Printers donates its time and expertise for the charity event each year to support green travel and road safety in Kent.

Mr Isom said: “KM Walk to School is a cause close to our hearts and we enjoy producing the campaign’s annual awards brochure. The scheme encourages families to swap the car for organised walk to school projects and enjoy better health while doing their bit for the environment.”

Families can show their appreciation for walk to school volunteers and school staff by nominating them for the KM Walk to School Awards.

Nominations must be made online here by the deadline of Tuesday, December 1 for individuals making a real difference to green travel schemes such as Walking Bus, Walk on Wednesday (WOW), Green Footsteps and Active Bug.

The nine award categories include Top Walking Bus Volunteer, School Staff Award and Green Champion. New this year is the Top Road Crossing Patrol Officer category to reward the county’s best lollipop man or lady.

KM Walk to School is led by a partnership of Kent County Council, Medway Council and the KM Group and supported by Safer Kent, Orbit South, Ashford Borough Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Leeds Castle, Circle Housing Russet, Whitefriars shopping area, Bexley Council, Eurostar, Specsavers, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment and Mini Babybel.
