The annual charity cricket match between doctors from the QEQM Hospital at Margate and Worth Cricket Club is on Sunday, August 17.
It will be the third annual friendly to raise funds for KASTDA, the Kent based charity that donates money for the social and educational welfare of tsunami orphans in Sri Lanka.
The match at the Worth home ground starts at midday and is scheduled to finish at 5pm, with traditional Sri Lankan curries and rice served afterwards.
There will also be a raffle to help the charity that has so far raised more than £30,000 and is sponsoring 106 orphans up to the age of 18.
Dr Chris Perera, a Worth player and a founding member of KASTDA, said: “The idea of fund raising came after our KASTDA fun cricket day at Worth. It came from three of the Worth members, Gary Payne, Mike Heard and Mike Forsyth, and since then has become a regular feature of our fixtures.
“It is a light-hearted match although once the game gets underway the players do take a fair bit of pride in their performances. The matches are always entertaining and are for a worthwhile charity.
“KASTDA has already helped improve the lives and long term futures of so many children and young adults by giving them the chance of social welfare support and an opportunity to complete their education. It is giving them hope.
“In the last four years our charity has held a range of events around east Kent and has raised many thousands of pounds. KASTDA has arranged for this to go direct to the point of need – the children. This cuts out the middle men.
“KASTDA has effectively adopted these children who receive ongoing monthly payments.”
