More girl power is wanted to join the all-women charity Midnight Walk in aid of the Pilgrims Hospice.
So far about 200 women have entered the sponsored challenge to stroll the 5.5 mile Ashford street walk starting and finishing at the Ashford Designer Outlet on June 13.
Organisers are hoping for 1,000 entries to cover the course through south Ashford and the town centre with a target to raise £100,000 for the charity.
It is being organised as a fun event with fairy wings and wands available on the night, but with a serious purpose of supporting the cost of providing dedicated care for those with terminal illness at centres of excellence in Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet.
The hospice provides 56 beds and to keep delivering care to those that need it most the charity has to raise more than £8 million a year.
Eldest walk entry so far is 75-year-old Joyce Rose from Sprotlands Avenue, Willesborough, who has already started serious long distance walking training.
Mrs Rose, who lives quietly in retirement with husband of 54 years Don, is determined to complete the challenge and raise as much as possible from her efforts.
They are the parents of the former star teenage athlete Julie Rose who died in a plane crash in America, but is remembered for ever with the Ashford athletic stadium named in her memory.
With one in four people likely to suffer from life-threatening disease many walkers are expected to be representing a family member or friend that has benefited from hospice services.
Entry forms can be downloaded from our website. Download an entry form here >>>
They can also be collected from the hospice in Willesborough and the Pilgrims Hospice shops, or by telephoning 01227 782062.
Those that register now and pay their entry fee will also receive a T-shirt to wear on the night.
