Kent’s brightest charity challenge is back with hundreds of rainbow runners expected to take part in the KM Colour Run.
The 5K challenge with a technicolour twist is being staged by the KM Charity Team, with the support of Specsavers and Countrystyle Recycling, on Sunday, June 10.
Participants will be pelted with coloured powder as they make their way round the course – guaranteeing that everyone will be glowing with psychedelic splendour.
The colour run isn’t a race, so it isn’t timed and entrants can choose to run, jog, or walk the course. They will each receive a KM Colour Run t-shirt and sunglasses to wear and collect a souvenir medal at the end.
Candice Roberts, chairwoman of Deal Breastfeeding Support Group, one of the charities hoping to raise funds through the run, said: “It’s great fun and everybody enjoys it – and the whole family can take part.”
Runners can raise money for any charity they choose and individuals raising £200 or more will go into a prize draw to win a spa day.
Last year’s event attracted 500 participants who raised £23,000 for 60 charities.
Organiser Dominic Comins, from the KM Charity Team, said: “Just ask anyone who has done the colour run before and they will tell you how much fun it is.
“There is such a great atmosphere – there’s the achievement of completing the course and raising money for charity, combined with the fun of going completely colour-crazy.
“You can also sign up to be a Colour Bandit for £10 and throw the powder instead - they seem to get a lot of joy from inflicting multicoloured madness on the runners.
“You can complete the course at your own pace, so it’s ideal for the whole family – and you can even bring your dog!”
The KM Colour Run takes place on Sunday, June 10 at Betteshanger Park, just north of Deal. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult and do not need to fundraise.
