With schools reopening this week, it’s time for children to get back not just into the classroom but the kitchen too.
The deadline for kids’ kitchen contest Young Cooks is November 7, which means there’s now only two months left to submit entries.
The Masterchef-style contest run by the KM Charity Team is open to children aged six to 19 from across the South-East.
There are cash prizes for primary school, secondary, family and overall champions, with a top prize of £200 going to the overall winner.
The competition offers young people a fantastic platform from which to express the full range of their culinary skills and creativity.
It aims to encourage children to create tasty, nutritious and high-quality meals without breaking the bank, and contestants are encouraged to use locally grown produce.
The finalists will be invited to cook their dishes for a VIP panel at the live final at East Kent College in Broadstairs at the end of November.
The Young Cooks judging organisations are NFU Mutual, SE Medical, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Orbit, Benenden Hospital Trust, the Dog Inn in Wingham, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Chequers Kitchen Cookery School, Licensing Consultancy Services, The Southern Co-operative, Whole School Meals, Brakes, East Kent College, Kent Catering Service and Macknade Fine Foods.
