There’s less than a week left to nominate in the Kent Literacy Awards and help children to develop skills vital for their future success.
Organisers of the event are looking for the best themes, schemes and techniques schools are using to improve pupils’ communication skills.
The awards will be open for nominations until Tuesday, April 28.
Leah Macdonald of Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, which is backing the event, said: “The Kent Literacy Awards encourage initiatives that develop reading, writing, speaking and listening at home and in school. These skills are vital to help children now in their school life and in the future.
“We would encourage everyone to nominate and encourage children to get creative and enjoy literacy.”
There are 18 categories including best school library, best writing topic, best use of drama, and best book week theme.
Pupils, parents or school staff can put forward the top schemes at their school for an award. The winning schemes will be published and distributed to schools across Kent, Medway and Bexley.
The winners will be revealed at an awards celebration held at Hempstead House Hotel, Sittingbourne on Tuesday, June 23.
The awards are supported by Kent County Council, Medway Council, Mini Babybel, Specsavers, The Ernest Cook Trust, Orbit South, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Leeds Castle, Beanstalk, Clarkson Wright and Jakes Ltd, Canterbury Tales, Social Enterprise Kent, and Southern Educational Leadership Trust.
