Thanet's Race for Life will be held at Quex Park, Birchington, on Sunday June 22.
Organised by and for Cancer Research UK, around 1,500 entrants will be walking or running around a five kilometre (three mile) course in the park. The charity aims to raise more than £137,000 from the Thanet race - one of many held around the country to help fund research into fighting cancer.
The event starts at 11am but runners are asked to get there for 10am so they can take part in the communal warm up.
Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship event which has become the UK’s largest women only fundraising event. In 2007 the charity brought together 665,000 women to walk, jog or run 5k to raise £40 million pounds
This time it hopes to raise £50 million to support the work of our scientists, doctors and nurses and help find new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
Natasha Etienne, the Thanet race organiser, said: “We’re delighted so many women have responded to our invitation to join us and we hope to have a real party atmosphere on the day.
“I hope everyone enjoys the day but I also hope they realise what a fantastic and vital contribution their fundraising will make to the work that our scientists, doctors and nurses are doing.
“With just a few days to go, it’s a great opportunity to make a final push on sponsorship. Raising sponsorship doesn’t have to be hard work and we have lots of really helpful tips on our Race for Life website at www.raceforlife.org/raisingmoney.”
