When their son Kasra died of a brain tumour aged just 19, Maggie and Mahmoud Boutorabi wanted to do something in his memory.
They set up a committee to organise fund-raising centred around an annual golf day at Broome Park, Barham.
Sixteen years later, they have raised more than £130,000 for local charities and individuals.
Now they have decided to call it a day with their final handover of £10,000 to pay for
specially adapted chairs for patients.
“We have always looked to finance specific projects rather than simply giving money,” explained Mrs Boutorabi.
“We are most grateful for all the help and support we have received over the years.
“We are particularly grateful for the support of the KM Group, who have backed us throughout. We decided now was the time to stop and are delighted our £10,000 will finance the chairs for the hospice.”
Over the years the Kasra Days of a golf tournament and dinner dance have supported more than 30 local good causes and individuals.
