PUPILS at a Kent primary school will be providing a splash of spring colour as part of a nationwide tribute to cancer victims.

On October 24, pupils at Halling primary near Rochester, are planting 3,600 sponsored daffodil bulbs in the school's Field of Hope. Across the UK, 500,000 bulbs are being planted in 100 Fields of Hope during the autumn.

The event is being organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care, which this year is celebrating the centenary of scientist Marie Curie receiving the Noble Prize for Physics for her research into radium and radioactivity. The bulbs will be planted in the Halling field from 1.30pm. Volunteers are wanted to help the pupils plant the bulbs.
