A firm of chartered accountants is looking for sum worshippers at the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards.

Key partner of the awards, Canterbury based Kreston Reeves, is keen to discover individuals with a flair for making pupils mad for maths.

Phil Reynolds of Kreston Reeves said: “We are proud to support the Maths Teacher of the Year award. Obviously accountancy and maths go hand in hand - it is a fantastic subject. Accountancy is a great career and we’re looking for the future accountants around Kent.”

The 13 annual Kent Teacher of the Year Awards is open for nominations from members of the public and schools until March 1. A huge range of categories are available to ensure any standout individual working or volunteering at a school could be nominated for an award.

Nominations will be judged by a panel including representatives from Leeds Castle, Marlowe Theatre, Project Salus, Social Enterprise Kent, Kent Sport and Physical Activity Service, SELT, Medway Council, Kent County Council, CXK, Loop CR Ltd, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the following departments at the University of Kent: Politics and International Relations; Physical Sciences; Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science; Biosciences; European Culture and Languages; and History.

Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team said: “Perhaps you know a maths teacher who has found a unique way to put a positive spin on their subject or a reading volunteer who has ignited a real passion for books. Tell us who is shining brighter than the rest at your school and why they deserve to have their turn in the spotlight.”

District and overall winners will receive certificates and prizes at a prestigious awards dinner staged at Leeds Castle in May.

There is no limit to the number of nominations that can be submitted at www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk before March 1.
