Organisers of the annual KM Big Charity Quiz have put together one of the best packages for teams in the event’s 17 year history with a complimentary bottle of wine and ploughman’s platter on every table.

Quiz-goers also receive a free beverage and go into a draw to win a pair of Eurostar tickets.

Causes supported by the mammoth wine and wisdom are the League of Friends at Canterbury hospital, the children’s road safety service at the KM Charity Team, and Pilgrims Hospice – the Kentish Gazette’s charity of the year.

The event will be staged at the University of Kent’s sports hall on Friday, April 22. Tables cost £65 for a team of eight, but readers booking online can use the discount code CANT16 to reduce the cost by £10.

Quizmaster Simon Dolby said: “The causes that will benefit from the event make a real difference to the quality of life locally and are thoroughly deserving of your support. Please do come and join in the fun by entering a team of friends or work colleagues for this year’s event.”

Event partners include the University of Kent, Independent Music Productions, Shepheard Neame, Barclays and MHA MacIntyre Hudson accountants. To book your table visit the website www.kmbigquiz.co.uk

BIG QUIZ FACT-FILE

  • The first KM Big Charity Quiz was staged in Canterbury in 2000 with Kent brewer Shepherd Neame backing the pilot event when it was staged at the Westgate Hall.
  • In its first year 50 teams attended – a capacity for the hall prior to its re-fit – and a comedy section for stand-ups was held mid way through the event.
  • Now heats of the event are staged around the county with top teams from Canterbury taking on rivals from Ashford, Medway and Maidstone in the county final.
  • Thanks to the support of Barclays bank and Shepherd Neame the events raise £30k each year for Kent good causes.
