DVD research will earn bonus points at Big Quiz

TEAMS taking part in the Medway heat of the KM Big Quiz can earn extra points at the event by preparing using DVDs on sale at Andrews Home Entertainment.

Chatham's only specialist independent DVD stockist, based in the Pentagon Centre, has donated a wide range of items to boost the raffle at the event, including triple DVD sets with a quiz theme.

The box sets, which sell for £21.99, include Test the nation with Ann Robinson, Telly Addicts with Noel Edmonson and Beat the intro music quiz. All are perfect to help would-be competitors brush up on their general knowledge in advance of the main event. For sports fans Andrews Home Entertainment has a box set featuring DVDs from Darren Gough, Terry Venables and Frankie Dettori.

Medway's biggest charity quiz night will take place at the Black Lion Leisure Centre, Gillingham from 7pm on Friday, October 19.

The cost for a table of eight people is £50, which is £6.25 per person. The ticket price includes a ploughman's meal and complimentary glass of wine, donated by Asda, Chatham.

To break the Medway record event organisers need to attract more than 50 teams of eight people. To set a new county record 77 teams of eight must take part. To book a table click on the KM Big Quiz section of the walk to school website www.kentwalkingbus.org

Causes to benefit from the proceeds are: the £1 million Macmillan Appeal at Medway Hospital, the Mayor of Medway's Charity Appeal, the award winning children's road safety charity Kent and Medway Walking Bus Project and the Medway branch of Leukaemia Research.

Companies can also support the KM Big Quiz by donating raffle items or prizes for top teams on the night. For information on the quiz call Simon Dolby on 07989 164 752.

Proprietor of Andrews Home Entertainment Bernice Friend is an excellent artist who has given over a section of her store to portraits of movie stars who feature in the films she sells.

The package of prizes she has donated to support the event includes a wonderful colour print of Dean Martin, valued at £25.

Ms Friend said: "The KM Big Quiz is a lovely charity event with excellent causes picked each year. I really hope the night is a great success and would urge the public to support it in any way possible."

Andrews Home Entertainment stocks DVDs from £1 each as well are unusual lines including rare DVD box sets of Dr Who and Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Originals and commissions of Ms Friend's artwork and portraits are available from £80. For information call 01634 405040.
